The Vampire’s Bride Giveaway

The Vampire’s Bride

* The Vampire (1897) Philip Burne-Jones Bt. (1861-1926)

I have always enjoyed reading supernatural thrillers and sci-fi books (and watching scary movies) since I was in my teens, but my love for these supernatural creatures really came about when I discovered the ‘Vampire Chronicles’!  Many of you will already know that Anne Rice is the author of this wonderful collection, which includes titles such as ‘Interview With The Vampire’, ‘The Vampire Lestat’ and ‘The Queen Of The Damned’ (my 3 favourites) and many more!

A few years ago my sister gave me a book called ‘Dead Until Dark', which is the first in the 'Sookie Stackhouse’ novels by Charlaine Harris. It was, and still is one of my favourite books, and this ‘Southern Vampire Series’ also forms the basis for the TV series ‘True Blood’, which I also adore!

Inspired by the vampires lust for human blood and the ability they have to dazzle, glamour or hypnotise their prey, it was inevitable that my love of reading such books would spill into my jewellery making!  Today’s theme is all about combining my love of making gothic jewellery with vampires, and sets the perfect scene for the Vampire's Bride Collection!

True Blood Eric Northman Wedding

Perfect for the Vampire’s Bride

   I have captured a selection of my current vamp and gothic glamour jewellery in red and silver (I will save the gold collection for a later post), alongside some of my own (and some borrowed) favorite red accessories!  Red represents passion, power, danger and blood (and a lot more), so provides the perfect colour choice when attending a Vamp based wedding!

The selection for the Vampire's Bride includes my ‘Under A Vampire’s Spell ~ Web of Deceit Ring & Bracelet’, Vampire Blood Drop Earrings, Blood Lust Rings, mini blood vials (in case anyone gets hungry) and a ‘Vampire Fang Bookmark’, which makes the perfect gift!

For the 'bewitched' humans in attendance, I have included an ‘I ♥ Vampire’s’ Pendant, and those with an observant eye will notice a ‘Team Eric’ phone charm (just because :-)), and ‘A Wolf's Heart' Necklace, as whenever there’s a ‘vamp’, you can be sure a ‘werewolf’ is never too far away.  I will also be doing a feature for the ‘Team Wolf’ fans in a later post!

Most of the jewellery shown (and more) are available in my VampiresKisses Etsy shop, but you can always contact me through either of my shops or blog with any enquiries!

Folksy Friday 'Fantasy Sea Creatures'

 Fantasy Sea Creatures

* Picture of "A Mermaid" by John William Waterhouse, 1901

The theme for this Folksy Friday is ‘Mermaids’.

The background for most fantasy sea creatures stem from myths and legends, and are often linked to historical references and occasional claimed sightings.  One of my favourite type of mythical sea creatures are Mermaids!  These aquatic creatures are often described as having a female head and upper body, and the tail of a fish!

The name ‘mermaid’ comes from ‘mere’, an old English word for sea, and ‘maid’, a word for woman (the masculine equivalent is merman). Mermaids are often described as beautiful and depicted as Sirens of the Sea (along with water fairies, nymphs and selkies), who tempt sailors with their beauty, charm and enchanting songs. Some stories include instances where a mermaid has transformed her tail for human legs, to live alongside humans. These stories rarely have happy endings, but are never-the-less fascinating.
My love of fantasy and fairytales include these mysterious creatures, and I have chosen a selection to show you below of my work and also that of other talented Artists!  All jewellery, prints and accessories shown are available from Folksy.
